The story begins in a hospital room where two mis-matched strangers (played by Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson) meet as patients with terminal diagnoses. This film explores some of the issues that arise for these patients and their families, especially the question of what is best of for the patients (and who gets to make that determination). The viewer is left with a strong message that there are still choices that to be made even when time is running out. Despite its rather serious subject, the acting is excellent and the movie is very entertaining.
